trouble seeing parts of OMMA’S website ?

So Elisabeth came to see me with her laptop, and although I am no computer wizard, I was able to figure out what the problem was. Liz has a MacBook laptop that is old and much loved. She knows exactly how to use it, it has always done what she needed it to do, and she doesn’t want to have to waste time learning how to use new and different technology. I get it. Really I do.

But here’s the thing. Our website is being built with totally up-to-date computer language and Liz’s laptop is not up to the task of reading it. It’s like if you try to read a book with your old glasses, the first pair you ever got, say 25 years ago. Hello blurry book.

So the purpose of this post is to help you. If you’re having trouble seeing parts of the website, or you can’t do on it what you’d like to do, or you’re afraid to try, please talk to me. Sometimes I make mistakes on the website, because I’m also learning. If you’re having difficulty, it might be my fault and you letting me know will tell me I need to fix something. That happened with OMMA member, Helen, the other day. Or, I might be able to help you by showing you how the website works, like I did with Laya at the OMMA meeting. Laya tackled her fears and successfully entered “Summer Solstice” using the online entry form. Congratulations, Laya!

As an aside, Laya told me she had trouble reading white text on light grey background, so I will work on fixing that to help her, and perhaps other members.

With the overwhelming new technology that is part of all of our lives, we can take one little step at a time and we can ask for help if we don’t know what to do next. I’m lucky to have 3 engineers in my little family, all willing to answer my computer and Internet questions for about 27 years now. That’s why I can help you. Please ask!
